Cinnamon Toast

Erika used to eat breakfast at school all the time.  I thought that the alternative (some sort of pop-tart or cereal bar in the car) just wouldn't suffice.  She got a hot breakfast and I didn't have to cook it for her.  Erika RAVED about the school's cinnamon toast.  I thought she was off her rocker.  How good could cinnamon toast from a school cafeteria be??  One word.  AWESOME.  I made this cinnamon toast this morning for Erika and Damien:

Again, awesome.  I followed her recipe for the Cinnamon Toast the Right Way.  Kind of.  I never really 'follow' a recipe.  I usually use it as a guideline.  I added way more sugar 'accidentally'.  It was an amazing, sugary breakfast.  Erika could only eat one piece of toast.  Damien, with his unusually high sugar tolerance, had two.  Pray, for Mrs. Flick's sake, that he sleeps during brain break this afternoon.

Nevada

I finally got some photos uploaded from Nevada.  I'm no photographer, so these are unedited.  Don't judge me.  These were all taken on the same day.  The first are from Lake Tahoe and the last are from a family dinner we had at Anthony's Dad's house.
EVERYONE was supposed to be making funny faces.

Balancing on a log during the hike.

The trees were all changing at Lake Tahoe.

Weekend

We had a pretty good weekend at the house.  Saturday was pretty eventful.  Anthony worked a total of 64 hours last week, so the kids and I got to spend lots of quality time toghether.  Saturday we cleaned, went to Grandma Gailey's Christmas party in October (it's in October every year.  We start the holidays early 'round here), Wal-Mart, happy hour at Sonic (vital part of any Saturday afternoon), then to Owasso with the fam.  Don't try and buy jeans after you've eaten a big meal.  Bad things happen to your psyche!

We did a absolutley nothing on Sunday.  I didn't even get out of my pajamas.  I did shower though, don't get too grossed out.  It was marvelous.  We slept in, then Anthony took a nap in the morning and another in the afternoon.  Then I couldn't go to sleep til after midnight because I slept in too long.  Awesome weekend, Monday came much too soon.

Looking forward to going to Nevada in less than two weeks.  Yay!

Update

Sorry folks, it's been a while since I've posted.  This one will be short too!  We bought our house and moved into it - super exciting!  We love it, the kids love it, and I'm sure our parents love it too.
Damien and Erika began school - Damien in pre-k and Erika in 1st grade.  Damien "hates his class".  He isn't a consistent napper, and definitely doesn't like to be told what to do.  He has absolutely no desire to lay down for 45 minutes when so much fun stuff is within sight.  He loves everything else about school though.  He always comes home dirty and has shoes full of pea gravel.  I think we're going to start collecting it to make our own playground in the backyard.  By the time he's done with elementary school, I think we'll have enough.  Erika enjoys school, much to her dismay.  She was very worried about all the homework she was going to have in 1st grade.  It really hasn't been too bad though, she is enjoying school.  She loves to socialize with her friends.  Anthony and I went to have lunch with them last week and they really enjoyed it (we did too).
Anthony is doing great.  He is enjoying being a motorcycle rider.  He LOVES having his own house.  He gets to clean, clean, clean!  You think I'm joking, but I'm not.  He is a cleaning machine.
I'm doing good too.  Anthony and I were cleaning the fenceline of some overgrown shrubs (or little trees, depending on how you look at it), and I developed a nasty case of poison ivy.  Right in the crook of my right arm.  It's been a joy.  I'm pretty sure that cleaning the rest of the fenceline will be Anthony's job.
That's it for now, gotta go.

Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa Cake

I'm so going to make this: Pdub's Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa Cake.  Ok, it's not really hers.  That's ok though.

Just when you think it's safe

Just when you think it's safe to get in the shower, because your husband had to be to work at 6 am and took a shower first and cleared out any and all daddy long legs that might be lurking in there, you open the shower curtain and are greeted with

Yes, that's right.  A spider hanging from the shower head.  Or ceiling.  Or somewhere.  He was just hanging out in the shower.  I think he was napping.  He looked exactly like the picture above.  In fact, this is a picture I snapped myself before I grabbed the bug spray and proceeded to spray down the entire shower.  True story.

New Phone

I got a new phone last week.  I've now moved into the smart-phone addicted category.

The Samsung Mesmerize.  It really is a beautiful phone.  The issues are:
1. It has frozen on me about 3 or 4 times in less than a week.  I've had to remove the otter box, take the back off the phone, and take the battery out in order for it to respond.
2. SHORT battery life.  Partly because the phone has been surgically implanted in my hand for the past week, but still short.

These are really the only cons I can think of.  Pros:
1. Brilliant screen.  I'm pretty sure HBO looks better on my phone than my HD TV.
2. I have Internet access again!  Other than my parents crappy rural Internet and the Internet at work.  Granted, this would be a pro for any smart phone.  Still going in the pros.
3. Words with friends.  Similar to #2, but still.  I apparently suck at scrabble because I haven't even come close to winning a game yet, but I'm getting better.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.  Money well spent.  Now, If I could just get Anthony to stop touching it I'd be set!

busy.lazy.apologetic.

Sorry to all of my readers. Haven't been posting like I should. I usually post at work and I've been gone. 2 days out for damien's strep throat. And today I actually had to work. All day. The audacity of some organizations. Anyway, between strep, work, and a crappy 9 year old computer with no internet access I haven't posted. I should have lots of updates next time i post. New phone updates and home inspection updates. Oh my.

House Hunters

For those of you who don't know, we've been trying to find a house.  Many of you probably don't know because:
1. I'm pretty sure I don't have any readers yet and
2. The house hunt has been going on for approximately 3 days

We found a house!!  Hopefully.  The very first house we looked at.  Totally remodeled.  It's small, but we all like each other usually, so that shouldn't be too bad.

We couldn't be happier with it.  We've come to an agreement on price and sign the finalized contract later today.  Unless we see something we dont' like in the inspection, this will be our new home!  I'll post more pictures and add more details when things are finalized more.

Anxious,
Angie

Reminiscing

Just remembering little Erika.  Missing 2 year old Erika.  Trying not to have baby fever (Anthony has enough for both of us).

the name will carry.  ~Bill Cosby

Second Post - Couponing (and spiders)

For those of you who don't know, I am a couponer.  Since I started doing it hardcore (ok, hardcore light.  I don't dumpster dive or have a 10 pound binder or anything) I've saved quite a bit o' money.  You can pick stuff up for free almost weekly at your local Homeland.  The site I use is The Money Saving Queen.  She has a whole team of couponers devoted to helping those who want to save money do exactly that.  The parts of her site I use the most are the Hot Coupons and the Matchups.  Sara Roe is one of my heros.

I'm posting about couponing in order to get myself motivated to organize my binder and clip all the coupons I've got.  Another site I like is Free Coupon Alerts.  The site isn't so pretty, but the coupons are!

Also, there was another spider in the bathroom this morning.  Another daddy long legs.

Yes, I made Anthony jump out of the shower all wet to kill it.

No, I'm not sorry.

Trying to get my grocery bill under control,
Angie

First Post - Spiders

I will be committed to blogging, I will be committed to blogging.  This has to be my mantra in order for this to work.  Bear with me though, this blog is going to be a work in progress.  Let me start out by saying how much I HATE spiders.  If they're little tiny ones i can smash them with a shoe.  Or have one of my kids do it.

No, I'm not above placing my small child in harms way (even if the harm is only percieved by me) so they can do the dirty work of extermination.

Yes, I know that every living thing is God's creation and should be treated with respect for that fact alone.

I still don't want them to exist.

At least not in a 10-foot radius around me.

This morning I was minding my own business, brushing my teeth before my husband passed out from my morning breath, and a wonderful gift decended from the heavens.  NOT.

This lovely creature fell from the celing into the sink as soon as I had finished brushing my teeth.  I let out a shriek, Anthony (who was all lathered up in the shower getting ready for work himself) has amazing intuition and figured out I was in severe distress (probaby from my 'AAAHHHH!! ThereIsASpiderInTheSink AndIt'sHuge ComeGetItNow PleasePleasePleasePlease HurryHurryFaster BeforeItGetsAway!!!').  He casually finishes in the shower as I give the spider a combination of the stink eye mixed with bone-shattering terror making sure it doesn't escape into some dark crevice only to re-appear as soon as I step foot in the bathroom again.

No human being should be put through situations like this.  It is much too stressfull at 5:30 a.m.
Antony's answer to spiders in the sink/shower?  Just rinse them down the drain.  Um, I don't think so.  I whole-heartedly believe that they are going to climb back up the sink and attack again.  Or build nests in my hair while I sleep.  They are evil and therefore can not die.  Could someone please explain this to my husband??

Pray for my sanity,
Angie
