Cinnamon Toast

Erika used to eat breakfast at school all the time.  I thought that the alternative (some sort of pop-tart or cereal bar in the car) just wouldn't suffice.  She got a hot breakfast and I didn't have to cook it for her.  Erika RAVED about the school's cinnamon toast.  I thought she was off her rocker.  How good could cinnamon toast from a school cafeteria be??  One word.  AWESOME.  I made this cinnamon toast this morning for Erika and Damien:

Again, awesome.  I followed her recipe for the Cinnamon Toast the Right Way.  Kind of.  I never really 'follow' a recipe.  I usually use it as a guideline.  I added way more sugar 'accidentally'.  It was an amazing, sugary breakfast.  Erika could only eat one piece of toast.  Damien, with his unusually high sugar tolerance, had two.  Pray, for Mrs. Flick's sake, that he sleeps during brain break this afternoon.

Nevada

I finally got some photos uploaded from Nevada.  I'm no photographer, so these are unedited.  Don't judge me.  These were all taken on the same day.  The first are from Lake Tahoe and the last are from a family dinner we had at Anthony's Dad's house.
EVERYONE was supposed to be making funny faces.

Balancing on a log during the hike.

The trees were all changing at Lake Tahoe.

Weekend

We had a pretty good weekend at the house.  Saturday was pretty eventful.  Anthony worked a total of 64 hours last week, so the kids and I got to spend lots of quality time toghether.  Saturday we cleaned, went to Grandma Gailey's Christmas party in October (it's in October every year.  We start the holidays early 'round here), Wal-Mart, happy hour at Sonic (vital part of any Saturday afternoon), then to Owasso with the fam.  Don't try and buy jeans after you've eaten a big meal.  Bad things happen to your psyche!

We did a absolutley nothing on Sunday.  I didn't even get out of my pajamas.  I did shower though, don't get too grossed out.  It was marvelous.  We slept in, then Anthony took a nap in the morning and another in the afternoon.  Then I couldn't go to sleep til after midnight because I slept in too long.  Awesome weekend, Monday came much too soon.

Looking forward to going to Nevada in less than two weeks.  Yay!

Update

Sorry folks, it's been a while since I've posted.  This one will be short too!  We bought our house and moved into it - super exciting!  We love it, the kids love it, and I'm sure our parents love it too.
Damien and Erika began school - Damien in pre-k and Erika in 1st grade.  Damien "hates his class".  He isn't a consistent napper, and definitely doesn't like to be told what to do.  He has absolutely no desire to lay down for 45 minutes when so much fun stuff is within sight.  He loves everything else about school though.  He always comes home dirty and has shoes full of pea gravel.  I think we're going to start collecting it to make our own playground in the backyard.  By the time he's done with elementary school, I think we'll have enough.  Erika enjoys school, much to her dismay.  She was very worried about all the homework she was going to have in 1st grade.  It really hasn't been too bad though, she is enjoying school.  She loves to socialize with her friends.  Anthony and I went to have lunch with them last week and they really enjoyed it (we did too).
Anthony is doing great.  He is enjoying being a motorcycle rider.  He LOVES having his own house.  He gets to clean, clean, clean!  You think I'm joking, but I'm not.  He is a cleaning machine.
I'm doing good too.  Anthony and I were cleaning the fenceline of some overgrown shrubs (or little trees, depending on how you look at it), and I developed a nasty case of poison ivy.  Right in the crook of my right arm.  It's been a joy.  I'm pretty sure that cleaning the rest of the fenceline will be Anthony's job.
That's it for now, gotta go.

Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa Cake

I'm so going to make this: Pdub's Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa Cake.  Ok, it's not really hers.  That's ok though.

Just when you think it's safe

Just when you think it's safe to get in the shower, because your husband had to be to work at 6 am and took a shower first and cleared out any and all daddy long legs that might be lurking in there, you open the shower curtain and are greeted with

Yes, that's right.  A spider hanging from the shower head.  Or ceiling.  Or somewhere.  He was just hanging out in the shower.  I think he was napping.  He looked exactly like the picture above.  In fact, this is a picture I snapped myself before I grabbed the bug spray and proceeded to spray down the entire shower.  True story.

New Phone

I got a new phone last week.  I've now moved into the smart-phone addicted category.

The Samsung Mesmerize.  It really is a beautiful phone.  The issues are:
1. It has frozen on me about 3 or 4 times in less than a week.  I've had to remove the otter box, take the back off the phone, and take the battery out in order for it to respond.
2. SHORT battery life.  Partly because the phone has been surgically implanted in my hand for the past week, but still short.

These are really the only cons I can think of.  Pros:
1. Brilliant screen.  I'm pretty sure HBO looks better on my phone than my HD TV.
2. I have Internet access again!  Other than my parents crappy rural Internet and the Internet at work.  Granted, this would be a pro for any smart phone.  Still going in the pros.
3. Words with friends.  Similar to #2, but still.  I apparently suck at scrabble because I haven't even come close to winning a game yet, but I'm getting better.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.  Money well spent.  Now, If I could just get Anthony to stop touching it I'd be set!
